Privacy Notice

A clear explanation of information that may be processed when you visit WhateverTings or contact the journal.

Last updated: 5 November 2026.

This notice explains how information may be processed when you visit the current static HTML version of WhateverTings or contact the journal. This version does not provide visitor accounts, comments, a newsletter sign-up, an on-site shopping cart, payment checkout or a server-side contact form. If those features or other services are added later, this notice will be reviewed and updated.

Who operates the website and how to contact us

This website is published as WhateverTings. For privacy questions or requests, contact the website operator at support@whatevertings.com. Please include enough information for us to understand your request, but do not send passwords, payment-card details or identity documents by ordinary email.

Information processed when you visit

When your browser requests a page, image or other file, the website host and any content-delivery or security services used for the domain may receive technical information needed to deliver and protect that request. This may include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, browser and device details, and basic referral information. These providers may keep technical and security logs to operate the service, diagnose faults, prevent abuse and investigate incidents. Their own privacy notices and service settings describe their processing and retention practices.

Information you choose to send by email

The Contact page contains an email link. Selecting it opens your own email application; it does not submit information to a form on this website. If you send a message, your email address and the information you choose to include will be processed by the email services involved in sending and receiving it so the message can be delivered and answered. Messages may be used to respond to enquiries, consider article suggestions, handle corrections and maintain appropriate editorial records. Please avoid sending confidential or unnecessary personal information.

Images and external links

Some editorial images are loaded from external image services, including Unsplash and Wikimedia Commons. When your browser requests an image from one of those services, that provider may receive technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. The website also links to third-party information sources. When you follow an external link, the destination provider's own privacy and cookie notices apply.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

The HTML, CSS and JavaScript files supplied in this package do not include an analytics or advertising script and do not intentionally set analytics or advertising cookies. The website host and any active content-delivery or security service may use essential cookies or similar measures for delivery, security or abuse prevention. The exact cookies and their lifetimes depend on the live provider configuration; this notice is not a live cookie scan. See the Cookie Notice for further information. If optional analytics, advertising, embedded media or other tracking services are enabled, this notice must be reviewed and any consent required by applicable law obtained.

Affiliate links

This version is prepared for future editorial recommendations; no retailer or affiliate destination is included unless a specific article visibly links to one. If affiliate links are added, the commercial relationship should be identified clearly beside the affected recommendation or link. A retailer or affiliate network may use its own tracking technologies after you choose to follow an affiliate link. Its own privacy and cookie notices explain that processing. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.

Why information is used and who may receive it

Technical request information may be processed to deliver the website, maintain security, prevent abuse and diagnose technical problems. Email information is used to respond to the message and handle the matter raised. Information may be processed by the providers needed to host, protect, deliver or send the website and email—for example, the hosting provider, an enabled content-delivery or security service, external image providers and email providers. Those providers process information under their own terms and applicable arrangements.

How long information is kept

Technical and security log retention is determined by the relevant hosting, content-delivery and security providers and their active settings. Email correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage the enquiry, maintain an appropriate editorial record or meet a legal obligation. The period may vary according to the nature of the correspondence and the services used.

Your data protection rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights to request access to personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or data portability, and to object to certain processing. These rights depend on the circumstances and are subject to legal conditions and exceptions. You can contact the website operator using the email address above. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website, its hosting, its security configuration or its features change. The date at the top of the page indicates the latest review.

This notice describes the supplied static website package. Before publication, the operator should confirm the exact hosting, security, email and tracking services enabled on the live domain and update this notice if they differ. This is general information, not legal advice.
